Baokhungri Festival 2022: The Tourism Department of the BTC government started the 9th Baukhungri Festival 2022 from 12 April to 14 April 2022 in Harinaguri, Kokrajhar, BTR.
Baokhungri Festival is without a doubt one of the much-awaited celebrated festivals in Bodoland, which is also known as a festival of Faith, Tradition, and Culture.

When is Baokhungri Festival 2022?
Finally, the wait for the Baukhungri festival is over. The Baokungri Festival 2022 will be celebrated from 12 April to 14 April 2022. The famous Baokhungri hill climbing will take place on 14 April 2022 on the auspicious day of Sankranti, the last day of the last month of the Hindu year.
In the last 2 years, 2020 and 2021, the Baukhungri festival was not celebrated due to the COVID-19 situation.

Baokhungri Hill
The Baokhungri Hills come under the Chakrashila Wildlife Sanctuary in the Kokrajhar district. The Sanctuary lies in both Kokrajhar and Dhubri districts. It’s famous for endangered Golden Langur, and sometimes, if you are lucky enough, you’ll get to see many of them. Golden Langur is the mascot of Bodoland (Officially BTR).
Baokhungri Hill Trekking
The festival’s main attraction: Baokhungri’s hill-trekking activity, was unknown to many people. It spread to the masses only after the BTC govt officially started celebrating the Baukhungri festival in 2013 onwards.
Before that, since immemorial, the local people (especially the Bodo people) in an unorganized manner have been thronging and climbing the Baokhungri hill. But now, after the start of the Baukhungri festival, lakhs of people, irrespective of caste, creed, and religion, take part in the celebration and climb the Baokhungri peak with a festivity mood for welcoming the Bwisagu festival.

BAOKHUNGRI MTB 1.0
Good news for Cycle Riders. On the occasion of 9th BAUKHUNGRI FESTIVAL 2022, for the first time BAUKHUNGRI MTB 1.0 an MTB racing competition is going to be held on 13th April 2022 organized by Govt. of BTC.
There will be Price Money for winners:
- 1st – Rs. 25,000
- 2nd – Rs. 15,000
- 3rd – Rs. 10,000
- and 10 nos of consolation prize = Rs. 5,000 to each
