The CLAT full form Common Law Admission Test is an entrance exam for students aspiring to pursue law education in India. There are 22 National Law Universities (NLU) that have participated in the CLAT 2022, these Law schools offer under-graduate degrees, post-graduate degrees, and Ph.D. in Law.

Candidates passing the CLAT exam on a merit basis can apply for admission to the mentioned 22 NLUs. Also, many private and self-financed law schools also use these CLAT scores for law admissions. The CLAT 2022 registration process has already started, eligible interested students can apply for the same before the last date of 9 May 2022.

Note that the CLAT exam is considered one of the toughest exams for law students.

CLAT Entrance Exam Details

The CLAT 2022 entrance exam is conducted for both Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) law studies.

Law UG Program

If you want to pursue an undergraduate course in Law then you need to appear for the UG CLAT 2022 examination. On passing the exam on merit, you can apply for law admissions for UG programs like 5 Years integrated Undergraduate (BA LLB), and 3 Years LLB.

Educational Qualification

  1. For General / OBC / PWD / NRI / PIO / OCI categories: Class 12 passed with minimum 45% marks.
  2. For SC/ST categories: Class 12 passed with a minimum of 40% marks.
  3. Candidates who are currently appearing in Class 12 (qualifying exam) in March/April 2022, are also eligible to appear in CLAT 2022 exam. But, they need to show evidence of passing Class 12 at the time of admission, failing to do so will lead to canceling their admission rights.

Age Limit

There will be no upper age limit for the UG program in CLAT 2022.

UG-CLAT 2022 Exam Brief

The UG-CLAT 2022 exam duration is of 2 hours. Total questions will be 150 multiple-choice questions carrying 1 mark each. There shall be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. These questions would be divided into the following 5 subjects:

  1. English Language
  2. Current Affairs, including General Knowledge
  3. Legal Reasoning
  4. Logical Reasoning
  5. Quantitative Techniques

Law PG Program

In order to pursue PG courses in Law schools, you need to appear for the PG-CLAT 2022 exam.

Educational Qualification

  1. An LL.B Degree or an equivalent examination with a minimum of Fifty percent (50%) of marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI categories.
  2. Forty-Five percent (45%) of marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.
  3. Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in April/May 2022 are also eligible to apply.

Age Limit

No upper age limit is prescribed for appearing in CLAT 2022.
