AIIMS Guwahati: AIIMS Guwahati is the only All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Assam. The Guwahati AIIMS was inaugurated on 14 April 2023 by current Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

It was established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Yojna(PMSSY) in May 2017. The institute has an annual intake of 125 MBBS students
About AIIMS Guwahati
All India Institute of Medical Sciences Guwahati is a hospital based public medical school located in Changsari, near Guwahati in India. It was established in 2017.
AIIMS Guwahati started its first academic session on 12 January 2021 with 50 MBBS students and 21 faculty members across four departments from a temporary campus located at Narakasur Hill in Guwahati. Later in 2022 the Institute further expanded with the joining of the new batch of MBBS students as well as the faculty members of paraclinical and clinical specialty and super- specialty departments.
Inauguration of AIIMS Guwahati:
Assam got its first All India Institute of Medical Sciences on 14 April 2023.The foundation stone of Guwahati AIIMS was laid by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi On 26 May 2017 and after seven year, the institute was inaugurated on 14 April 2023 by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Institute intends to develop model patterns of teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education in all its branches to demonstrate a high standard of medical education to all medical colleges and other allied institutions in India.
